Entrepreneurship Awareness & Startups Support Program
As part of its commitment to strengthening youth entrepreneurship and supporting local economic growth in Libya, Team for Training and Development implemented a comprehensive programme designed to inspire young innovators and help them turn ideas into viable start-ups.
The initiative, launched in partnership with UNDP and local authorities, focused on building an entrepreneurial mindset among young people through awareness activities, training programmes, and targeted support for early-stage start-ups across four key municipalities: Tripoli, Benghazi, Derna, and Sebha.
Programme Overview
The project aimed to empower over a thousand young people by encouraging creativity, developing entrepreneurial skills, and promoting entrepreneurship as a sustainable career pathway. The programme included:
Awareness and inspiration campaigns highlighting successful Libyan entrepreneurs.
Collecting innovative ideas that respond to local challenges in different municipalities.
Ensuring inclusive access for youth from diverse backgrounds, including women and vulnerable groups.
Providing guidance and structured pathways for turning ideas into start-ups.
Key Components of the Programme
1. Curriculum Development
Team designed a practical, context-specific curriculum tailored to the needs of early-stage entrepreneurs in Libya.
The curriculum covered essential topics such as business planning, operations, legal considerations, and marketing strategies.
It was developed in consultation with universities, local councils, and entrepreneurship stakeholders to ensure relevance and impact.
2. Business Incubation & Training of Trainers (TOT)
A series of incubation activities were delivered across the four municipalities, engaging 80 selected participants.
The programme also included TOT sessions aimed at building local capacity and ensuring sustainability by equipping trainers with the tools and methods needed to support entrepreneurs in their municipalities.
Additionally, Team produced outreach and visibility content—such as profiles, stories, and visual material—highlighting the progress and achievements of beneficiaries.
3. Startup Support & Grants
Following evaluation of participants’ business ideas, 40 promising start-ups were selected to receive financial support and guided mentorship.
Ceremonies were held in the four municipalities to celebrate the launch of these projects.
Team also supported participants in navigating registration processes and ensuring compliance with relevant business procedures.
